Tides Waterfront Kitchen, located at 2600 Sand Dunes Dr, Monterey, CA 93940, offers an unforgettable dining experience right by the beach. The restaurant's inviting atmosphere and spectacular waterfront views make it an ideal destination, whether you're here for a casual meal or a special night out.
The ambiance is one of the highlights of the Tides Waterfront Kitchen. Guests can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the ocean from virtually any seat in the restaurant, making it a perfect spot for date nights or casual gatherings. The hotel’s proximity to the beach ensures that the dining experience is complemented by the soothing sounds of the waves and fresh ocean air.
The food menu at Tides Waterfront Kitchen is diverse and caters to various tastes. From fresh, flavorful cocktails to hearty meals, the restaurant excels in offering both quality and variety. While there are options for everyone, the food is particularly appreciated for its fresh ingredients and the effort put into creating memorable dishes. If you’re plant-based, you’ll find some interesting options, though the choices might be limited. For example, the steel-cut oatmeal served with golden raisins, oat milk, candied hazelnuts, and brown sugar provides a comforting meal, though it could benefit from a bit more balance in flavor. Despite minor criticisms of individual dishes, the overall quality of the food remains commendable.
The service at Tides Waterfront Kitchen is another standout feature. Guests consistently report prompt, courteous service, with the staff going out of their way to accommodate requests. Whether you're in the bar area enjoying cocktails or seated for a meal, the staff ensures that your experience is as enjoyable as possible.
The restaurant's rebranding, now known as The Lantern Room, reflects a fresh and modern approach, adding to its growing potential as a premier dining spot in Monterey. Whether you're a hotel guest or simply visiting for a meal, Tides Waterfront Kitchen offers a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere that’s perfect for making lasting memories.
Tides Waterfront Kitchen Reviews
This place has stellar views anywhere you sit in the restaurant! Note - the place has been renamed - "The Lantern Room" Being plant based, my options were avocado toast for $22 or steel cut oatmeal for $13. I opted for the latter - large bowl with sides of golden raisins, steamed oat milk, candied hazelnuts & brown sugar. Good temperature on the oatmeal. Something in the mix had an odd flavor- perhaps the raisins or the nuts. Enough that it overshadowed the meal - edible but could've been better. Cappuccino with Captain Stoker represented was delightful with oat milk. Service was prompt, courteous and good, though it did take a few repeats of 'oat milk' to clarify my request leaving me doubtful that I'd get it. I did! Was seated straight away though the hostess had to post a makeshift sign stating she was away seating a guest. Return visit? Probably not for food, but grabbing a cocktail off the lobby? Definitely! ...especially if they have excellent musicians present. Huge potential for this rebranding - I hope they get it right!!
I enjoyed the food and service so much at Tides Waterfront Kitchen. The ambience was beautiful as well since the hotel and restaurant is directly on the beach. I wholeheartedly recommend! Great spot for a date night and the great thing is you can go to the restaurant and not be a guest of the hotel.
For our 43rd anniversary, we're bike riding the coastal trail, and decided to pedal on up the hill for a great breakfast! The hospitality of the host and server, fabulous Eggs Benedict, super bacon loaded omelet, and drum roll, please... fabulous view of the bay, all adds up to a rare treat at a bargain price and the perfect start to a wonderful day! Eat well. Be happy!
Wonderful romantic place with up-close spectacular views of the ocean. The staff were very friendly and the food was prepared with effort in presentation and fresh flavor. We loved the diced Ceviche with home made tasting corn chips and plenty of fish. If you are watching your weight but want something savory then go for the Seafood medley in the tomato based broth. Add some red pepper flakes and BAM! This restaurant is also great for large groups.
Review is for the bar/lounge area. We have been here a few times, love the beautiful atmosphere. Great service every time we have been here with a great cocktail and food menu at the bar. Definitely recommend.
